Choosing the Right School
Choosing the right school for your child is an important decision and we hope that through our website, you will learn a little more about what makes The Granville so special and whether we might be right for you. To get a real feel for what makes us so unique, and to see all that we can offer your child, please do come and visit us. You can visit us on one of our Open Mornings or you can arrange an individual tour, where you will have the opportunity to meet the Headmistress, our inspiring teachers and our charming pupils.
Entry Points
Girls and boys may join Pre-School in the term after their third birthday. They are usually admitted in September, January and April of each year. From Reception, we welcome applications from girls at any stage during the academic year subject to availability of spaces, and successful completion of the admissions process.
The Granville is a very popular school which admits children from a wide area. When places are oversubscribed, priority is given to children who already have siblings at the school or whose parents are former pupils. Admission is then given to children who are on the Waiting List, in order of application.
For more detail please read our Admissions Policy
When our girls reach Year 3 the class is split into two separate classes of approximately 15 pupils. This enables us to give each girl much more individual attention in the crucial period before they sit their entrance examinations to senior schools. At this point we are able to offer additional places to girls outside of The Granville. If you are interested in your daughter joining us please contact the school office on 01732 453039.
After Your Visit
The next step is to register your child. Once we have received the registration form we will arrange for your child to come in for a taster session. The format of this varies according to the age of the child but we always make this visit as enjoyable and ‘stress free’ as we can! The taster session is a gentle introduction to what school life is like at The Granville, in which your child can experience normal lessons with their current year group. Age appropriate assessments will be incorporated into the taster session.
Following a successful taster session, a formal offer of a place is made. A familiarisation session follows the acceptance of the offer so your daughter can become familiar with her new school and begin making friends.
Available Places
Although our classes are generally full, occasional places do arise. At this present time we have a few available places. Please phone the school office on the 01732 453039 for further details.
